Let’s buckle in because today is packed with television updates on topics ranging from The Walking Dead to The Great British Bake Off. Hashtag blessed. Today’s TV-Cap has a trailer and key art for season seven of The Walking Dead, an announcement about a Dark Tower companion TV series with Idris Elba, a trailer for Hamilton’s America, and more.

Meet the King. When The Walking Dead returns on October 23 with season seven, it won’t only be about who Negan killed in the season six finale, though they’d better address that right away–more is happening, more from Negan and more from the new character King Ezekiel. He’s featured in the new trailer above. [Nerdist, Image: AMC]

Gorram Right. It’s hard for me to believe that Firefly happened 11 years ago. The show about Captain Malcolm Reynolds and his ragtag crew deserved more time. The past is the past, but Nathan Fillion appeared at Long Beach Comic Con along with a few other cast members and described an opening scene for an episode they never filmed. The scene isn’t earth-shattering, but if you’re hungry for more Firefly (and this Browncoat is), it’s worth a read. Fillion said, “Joss once described an opening scene to me where we are looking at a planet with a ring around it and as we come in close, we see the ring is actually rocks and pieces of ships and old derelicts. It’s a junk ring. It’s the junkyards…” Read all about the unfilmed scene here at Nerdist. [Image: Fox/Imgur]

Sweet Christmas. Need a thorough run down about the comic book past of Luke Cage ahead of the show’s September 30 premiere on Netflix? Then put this episode of The Dan Cave in your eyeballs right this very minute because Dan goes over everything you need to know about the hero. [Nerdist]

Legendary History. Speaking of learning more about characters: Grand Admiral Thrawn is appearing in Star Wars Rebels on Saturday’s season three premiere. Get to know the blue-skinned villain’s background right here.

Song to Play. Hamilton started with a single song, “My Shot.” Lin-Manuel Miranda took a year to write it, and the smash hit musical unfolded from there. PBS will look at the making of the Broadway phenomenon in Hamilton’s America on October 21, and you can get a taste of what they’ll cover in the above trailer. Don’t throw away your shot and miss it.

Hello, Spin-Off. The Dark Tower film isn’t limiting the world Stephen King created to the big screen. No, they’re going the spin-off route. MRC and Sony Pictures have committed to backing a run of 10-13 episodes to begin shooting in 2017. The show will mostly focus on the fourth book in The Dark Tower series, Wizard and Glass. And Idris Elba will appear in the series! Learn more at Entertainment Weekly.

Corporations Rule. When the government fails, it’s not hard to imagine big companies stepping up to take over rule. The Ben Affleck and Matt Damon produced series Incorporated is set in such a future, and hoo boy, the stakes seem v. serious in the above trailer. The Syfy drama premieres on November 30.

Sigh. Great British Bake Off is losing its heart with its move to Channel 4. Not only have hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins decided to leave, judge Mary Berry won’t be making the transition either. She’s staying with the BBC out of “loyalty.” Paul Hollywood, however, signed a three year contract to stay on. But if you don’t have Berry commenting on soggy bottoms, why even bother? [BBC News]

The Villains. Luke Cage has to protect the streets of Harlem from more than one enemy in the upcoming series, and a new poster set from highlights his troubles. They feature Shades, Cottonmouth, and Mariah Dillard. See Mariah above and a couple more images at CBR. [Images: Netflix]

AHS Link. The sixth season premiere of American Horror Story introduced the new theme, My Roanoke Nightmare, and maybe have also brought the tidbit that connects this season to the first season. Hello Giggles put together a theory after noticing both seasons opened the same way. What. Read more. [Slashfilm]

It’s Bewitching. The witches are planning to bring the devil to earth in the next season of Salem. They want him to call their town home, but what are the odds the devil is going to do what he’s told? The latest trailer highlights the dangers. The third season of Salem will arrive on November 2. Fiction to Reality. Just a quick blurb for this: The West Wing cast is reuniting and going on the campaign trail for a weekend to spread the word for Hillary Clinton. [TVLine]

Fast Forward. Scream Queens is back, and several years have passed after the events in the season one finale. What’s the show’s new hospital setting like? Read Samantha’s recap of “Scream Again.”
